This vibrant painting is based on the ten thousand things with it’s many parts. This idea in Buddhist thought denotes the many things that form our reality from the trees and the rivers to the cup we drink our tea from. This teaching reminds us that although there are many things in existence they are all connected on some level. The river feeds the trees and the cup we made from comes from some part of the earth.
This painting suggests the abundance of things that we are in touch with and their intimate connection with each other. Nothing exists by itself. Hang this painting somewhere you can reflect on these ideas that invoke gratitude for everything. Think of it as a meditation on the abundance of the universe and the interconnection of all things.
I found myself deeply influenced by the colours of Spring this year after a long, grey winter. I found myself craving these uplifting greens. This painting and several others invited themselves into my studio. I don’t decide what I’m going to paint. It’s more like the painting I need finds me. This Spring 4 vibrantly green works appeared as spring unfolded out my studio window. What arrives is always such a surprise to me!
