No Rain No Lotus
The traditional Buddhist saying is “No Mud No Lotus” meant to remind us that out of the challenges and difficulties of life we bloom and grow. In messy, muddy challenges of life is where we cultivate our greatest strengths. But I also believe we need the rain for that lotus to bloom. The rain is a partner of the “mud” in the life and for an actual lotus flower. There is the rain of our tears when hardship strikes. We are washed clean and emptied by those tears that have the same salinity as the ocean. So the rain and the mud are intertwined.
This serene painting is here to remind us of the value of difficult times. Though we never wish for them we grow, just as the lotus does from our challenges. Place this painting strategically to remind yourself that your human trials bring with them strength and grace and compassion.
