It’s quiet here in the studio this morning. Everything seems absorbed by that quiet in the same way shock absorbers take the bump out of the ride.
The skies are overcast a grey-white, the air is windless and a stillness hangs in the air in an inviting way. The earth seems at a brief standstill as it transitions into it’s next phase.
I feel that too as a cycle of rest invites me in after a summer of creating my new body of work.
In harmony with nature we shift with the seasons though modern life does everything to keep us busy and engaged. And yet if we stop and pay attention we feel the transition from the energetic season of summer to the movement of life indoors (at least here in the northern part of the world)
Akin to the movement of the seasons I am noticing the cycle of work and rest.

After finishing this body of l work which corresponded with the summer I feel the call to rest. Our ancestors lived in this kind of flow. After hunting, after harvesting crops it was a time to rest and rebuild strength. They knew how to be still. They knew the two parts of the cycle.
I think so much of the burn out we humans experience is the result of ignoring the cycles of work and rest, the cycles of the seasons, the cycles of life. We experience a soul level tiredness, depression when we never take time to stand still, to sit quietly. We look to revive and comfort ourselves with distractions, food or substances. Instead of deep rest.
My recent collection has offered me this insight int the work/rest cycle. As I wind down a bit I would like to again invite you into that body of new work.
I want to share the energy of quiet and restfulness that I think it embodies so that you might feel that too.
The palette and gentle shapes are meant to inspire calm and quiet and warmth. Did you know the energy of pink is associated with love (think Valentine’s day), kindness and compassion? In the west we have associated it with the feminine which is also the energy of caring and nurturing.
Wishing you a peaceful weekend ahead where you have the opportunity to rest from the cycle of work.
